About the Role

Job Summary

We are currently seeking a skilled Mobile Plant Fitter to join our operations within the waste management sector. This role involves the maintenance, servicing, and repair of a wide range of mobile and static plant machinery — particularly equipment found on a waste management site. A strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical looms, and engineering diagnostics is essential to ensure equipment reliability and minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled and reactive maintenance on a variety of plant equipment, including loaders, compactors, conveyors, shredders, balers, and picking lines.
  • Diagnose faults in hydraulic systems and perform timely repairs to minimise disruption.
  • Maintain, install, and troubleshoot electrical looms and connections across plant machinery.
  • Conduct full mechanical and electrical diagnostics to identify issues and implement effective repairs.
  • Keep maintenance records up to date and report on equipment performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with the operations and engineering teams to ensure optimal equipment availability.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols, reporting any hazards or incidents promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter, ideally within waste management, recycling, construction, or heavy industry.
  • In-depth understanding of hydraulic systems, electrical wiring/looms, and mechanical components.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with waste processing machinery and conveyor-based systems is highly desirable
  • NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent is preferred.
  • A proactive attitude with a commitment to safety and continuous improvement
